I had a nice chat at the Spring tournament with Dr Pasupalety and Mr Sequiera, both of whom grew up playing chaturanga. This is thought to be the ancestor of many types of chess played now across the world.

British Chess Championships, Torquay 2019: Junior Bursaries

The annual British Chess Championships are returning to Devon for the first time since 2013  and will be staged at the English Riviera Centre in Torquay between 26th July and 4th August. There is a full range of Junior Championships which will be staged at different points during the Congress. The detailed schedule is as follows:
