A new event for the older juniors.  Once they are too old for the U14 team, there aren't so many opportunities for our junior players, so we have put this event on for them.  It's a training tournament with coaching between rounds from Dominic Mackle, supported by a grant from the Mallison Chess Educational Trust.  HV Mallison was many times the champion of Exeter Chess Club, acted as Devon Country Chess Match Captain and on his death left sums of money to Exeter Chess Club and Devon County Chess Association; the Devon fund is for junior chess training.

Over the weekend I think everyone won a game, in every style from a refined endgame squeeze to a swashbuckling sacrifical attack from the nineteenth century.  All the games were analysed by Dom who was impressed with the level and focus of the players.
