- Chess with a difference!
- This is a new event for us to round off the season. We will play 'variant' chess games all day, and at the moment we are planning:
- King of the hill -- all the normal rules of chess PLUS you win if you get your King to any of the four central squares: d4 e4 d5 e5.
- Losing chess -- (1) win by losing all your pieces or stalemate, (2) captures are forced. No check or checkmate.
- Three check chess -- win by checkmate OR if you give three checks in total.
- Maiden's Game -- all the normal rules of chess PLUS captures are forced. [Invented by girls in Morocco before 1280!]
- Marseillais Chess -- (1) White makes the first move, (2) after that, two moves each per turn, (3) check on the first move ends your turn. Win by checkmate.
- Guard Chess -- all the normal rules of chess PLUS you cannot take a guarded piece.
We will probably have time for more -- CrazyHouse, Duck Chess and others have been suggested.

PLAY will start at 9.30am.

The day will finish at about 4.00pm.
This will be as soon as possible after the last round finishes.
Supervision
Unusually, we intend to supervise the players all day ourselves, but parents are welcome to stay.
Please bring a lunch.
